Web Designers see the internet different from most, hip designs, layouts, swish graphics bring spice to the internet. That said, design companies don’t always have the commercial programming experience to implement something like e-commerce.
Web Developers in theory see the internet in the same way as the users, less focused on graphical abilities and fancy rotation graphics and more focused on logic, speed of loading and most importantly the functionality of the applications that need to run on a website.
Designers and Developers have the same aims, they just disagree on the methods.

Domain Name Registration - this provides you with the www address that everyone who uses the internet is familiar with. We can register your required domain name. Web Hosting - once you have a www address you need space on the internet to host your website. Dependant on whether your needs are static or dynamic content we can provide the correct webspace and bandwidth to meet your requirements. Web Design - building your presence, suitable colour matches, graphics and style sheets. We also offer builds using Macromedia Flash if the customer so desires. Web Development - integration of applications onto your website, this is the area that we really excel in with our programming knowledge. We can take your database integration, e-commerce or other application needs and custom build it for you to work on a webpage, whether intranet, extranet or internet. Contract Programming - we have been asked several times in the past to write coding for internet applications from guestbooks, forums, registration forms enabled to database and various other database applications and e-commerce for web design companies, who have struggled with the programming knowledge to implement such things without using free or 3rd party applications often carrying advertisements.

Scotia Web Design Limited was formed in April 2003. Based in West Lothian the business is owned and operated by Jason Lafferty.
Jason has worked in IT since 1988 in various areas including training, desktop support, infrastructure, networking, application support and then since 2001 as an application developer using technologies including Lotus Domino, VB, Lotuscript, PHP and Java.
In 2003, the business was born with one customer, the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, a customer who is still with Scotia today and whose website in 2006 showed just under 8 million pages to 110,000 unique visitors.
Since 2003, the business has grown to almost 30 customers, offering all aspects of web design and hosting as well as presence based static sites through to fully blown content managed sites and e-commerce sites. We pride ourselves in offering these at competitive prices with a personal touch.
